AYN Working Groups
AYN Working groups are topic-specific communities for youth engaging in the issues of today.
Aim of the Working Groups
Learning & Sharing
Working Group members work together to learn, share their experiences, and produce resources to inform others on the critical aspects of their topic. Discussion groups, webinars, conference sessions, toolkits, media content and more: working groups are on it!
Direct Engagement
Through collaborations with prominent organizations and institutions, AYN Working Groups engage directly with the processes shaping the North, participating in consultations, research projects, and advisory councils.

Oceans Working Group
The AYN Oceans Group (AYO) is a youth-led platform for young people across the world to discuss and collaborate on ocean governance. This year’s main topic will be the Biodiversity Beyond National Jurisdiction, which is an upcoming international agreement for conservation in the high seas, and is currently being negotiated at the United Nations.

Past Working Groups

Arctic Law and Politics
The Arctic Law and Politics International Discussion Group brings together interested youth, scholars, and practitioners to discuss contemporary legal and political issues relating to the Arctic region. It is meant for those that are new to studying the Arctic region and experts alike, because a diversity of perspectives and backgrounds enhances the quality and scope of discussion.

Northern Economy
The Arctic holds unique opportunities and risks for economic development, and climate change and social transformations are quickly altering the realities of the northern economy. Youth can play a leadership role in building a sustainable, safe, and just economy in the north.
