UArctic Panel

What would you do if you were in charge? The Arctic Youth Network has partnered with the UArctic Congress to bring together a panel to participate in a plenary session on youth: how youth see the future of the Arctic, what they think should be done, and how they would do it were they in a position of power. The UArctic Congress brings together institutional leaders, Indigenous representatives, academics, scientists and students from around the Circumpolar North and beyond and will be held in Reykjavík, Iceland October 5-8, 2020. You can learn more about the UArctic Congress here. This will be a wonderful opportunity for Arctic youth to have their voices heard on the international stage. We thank the UArctic Congress for their openness and enthusiasm.

First General Meeting (April 2019)

The Arctic Youth Network held its first General Meeting in Reykjavik, Iceland on April 11th, 2019. The objective of the meeting was to gain increased support for and interest in the AYN from both youth and officials. Approximately 45 people attended representing all Arctic nations with 18 people watching online. The meeting was composed of a brief presentation on the AYN, remarks from US and Russian officials, and then discussion in small groups to gain a better idea from other youth of what the Arctic Youth Network should aim to accomplish. Overall, delivery was successful with great reviews from attendees and many new connections were made to further develop AYN in the coming months. Watch a live stream of our General Assembly here.

COP24 (December 2018)

Early AYN organizers attended the 2018 United Nations Climate Change Conference to make connections with youth from around the world. From Peru to Iceland, our network began expanding and growing. Click here to listen to our panel discussion on how climate change, biodiversity and cultural equality are interconnected. This session was made possible with the support of Ungir umhverfissinnar and the Nordic Council of Ministers.

Arctic Youth Summit (October 2018)

In October 2018, a youth cohort gathered in Rovaniemi, Finland. Led by Finland, the U.S., and WWF, the Arctic Youth Summit informed and inspire youth and became a launching pad for participants to further develop ways to collaborate and take action for what they believe in. One such cause was the Arctic Youth Network. Following the Arctic Youth Summit in 2018, the Arctic Youth Network took off. Below are some of the places where we have had a presence.
